Back Pressure Monitors and resource utilization values in Exchange 2010 SP1

The following details the the system resources monitored as part of the back pressure feature and the levels of resource utilization.

Free hard disk space for the message queue database

High = 100 * (hard disk size – 500MB) / hard disk size

Medium = 2 percent less than high level

Normal = 4 percent less than high level

Free Hard Disk Space for the message queue database transaction log

High = 100 * (hard disk size -Max(5GB,3*DatabaseCheckPointDepthMax)) / hard disk size

Medium = 2 percent less than high level

Normal = 4 percent less than high level

Uncommitted Message Queue Database Transactions in Memory

High = 200 version buckets / 4000 batch point

Medium = 120 version buckets /2000 batch point

Normal = 80 version buckets / 1000 batch point

Memory Used by the EdgeTransport.exe Process

High = 75 percent of the total physical memory or 1 terabyte, whichever is less

Medium = 73 percent of total physical memory or 2 percent less than 1 terabyte, whichever is less

Normal =  71 percent of total physical memory or 4 percent less than 1 terabyte, whichever is less

Memory Used by All Processes

High = 94 percent of total physical memory
