By default, the vSphere Web Client inactivity timeout period is 120 minutes. It may be that that you wish to reduce the value to close session automatically to minimize risk , by reducing the potential for unauthorised access to vCenter.
This is possible by modifying the ‘webclient.properties’ file which by default is located in the directory ‘C:\ProgramData\VMware\vSphere Web Client’ on the host where the vSphere Web Client is installed.
You will need to uncomment the ‘session.timeout’ value and set the value in the number of minutes to which you require, in the below example this is configured to be 30 minutes
session.timeout = 30
In order to apply the configuration change you will need to restart the ‘VMware vSphere Web Client’ service, or from the virtual appliance restart ‘vSphere-client service’.
Now once a period of inactivity of 30 minutes has been exceeded the user will be logged out of the vSphere Web Client and will be required to logon.
